"The Devil Judge" that messed with our heart!

Updated: Nov 2, 2021

A very new worthwatching Kdrama ( July 2021 - August 2021).

It takes place in a dystopian present day Korea where the leaders try to find a way to gain the public trust. They come up with the idea to form a live court show with trials that take place in real time and the verdict is given through on line votes by the public. Kang Yo Han (Ji Sung) is appointed as the main judge and becomes the favorite public figure. However, he has a hidden agenda in order to achieve his personal revenge. By his side is the naive rookie prosecutor Kim Ga On (Park Jin Young) and Jung Sun Ah (Kim Min Jung) a woman from his past who managed to gain power in order to attract his attention.

Despite the fact that whenever I read about dystopian plots I am very hesitant, I liked this drama very much! A very good production, great cinematography and excellent acting. Ji Sung gives a Devil Judge who seems to have come out of a DC comic. A dark and intriguing personality who turns into an attractive and powerful avenger. In my opinion, Ga On is a very annoying character because of his extreme and unreal sense of justice and his persistence to doubt every single action of Yo Han. However, their chemistry is undeniable and adds tension to their interactions. I also desliked the character of Yoon Soo Hyun (Park Gyu Young), Ga On's childhood friend who has a crash on him. She had a flat and unemotional personality which made her a very bad match for him.

We should keep in mind that all this takes place in an imaginary world, therefore, we should put aside whatever seems out of place and let ourselves plunge into the Devil Judge's world of a well planned revenge game. I am in great anticipation for the second season!
